Learn more:
The Kerry Ramblers dance group participating in Kids Euro Festival consists of a group of eight children who won the All-Ireland 2007 Set Dancing Championship for ages twelve and under. Set dancing is similar to square dancing, and traces its roots to the 18th century French court quadrille style of dancing. The contemporary, Irish version of this is very percussive and rhythmic. .
About the artist
The leader of the tour, John Stack, is a full time dance teacher in County Kerry and County Limerick, Ireland. His pupils range from four to seventeen years of age and have won many Irish National set dancing titles. They have one of the largest dance groups and classes in County Kerry.
The Kerry Ramblers are also accomplished musicians, and have All-Ireland traditional Irish music champions among their ranks. T.P. McNamara, winner of the All-Ireland Senior Accordion title in 2001, will perform in Washington D.C. with the group.
