Świerszczychrząszcz cabaret, from Szczebrzeszyn, Poland, was founded in 2007 by two actors, Marcin Wąsowski and Michał Łysiak. The company has staged two productions, the most recent of which received numerous positive reviews and juried awards, including First Prize at PAKE 2008, the most prestigious Polish cabaret festival.
About the actors:
Marcin Wąsowski — born in Warsaw in 1977— is a theatrical and cabaret actor, stage manager, scriptwriter, and theatrical instructor who graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Lodz. He has been active in youth amateur theatre since he was 17. In 1998, Wąsowski began a partnership with Theatre A from Gliwice, and, in 2004, he founded the MMS Theatre with two friends. After three years, MMS Theatre was converted into Świerszczychrząszcz cabaret. He has extensive stage experience, having performed in musicals, musical performances, dramatic plays, and street shows. Wąsowski is the author of two monodramas, and also directs concerts and artistic shows, as well as theatrical workshops for children and young people.
Michał Łysiak — born in Zamość in 1983 — is a theatrical and cabaret actor and theatrical instructor who has been active in student amateur theater since he was 20. He joined the MMS Theatre in 2006, and remained with the company when it became Świerszczychrząszcz cabaret. Like his colleague Wąsowski, Łysiak also has a rich theatrical background that includes musicals, musical performances, dramatic plays, street shows, and theatrical workshops.
