António Chainho is a remarkable Portuguese musician with a prolific artistic career of more than 40 years, internationally respected as an Ambassador of the unique twelve strings instrument named Portuguese Guitar.
Well known for its special sonority - and frequently associated with Fado music - Chainho's Portuguese Guitar recitals amaze audiences all over the world in countries like Brazil, Serbia, Croatia, Spain, Korea, India, Holland, just to name a few.
Maestro Chaínho believes that this very special instrument, still hand made by craftsmen in Portugal, harbours the potential to deserve an expanded recognition in the artistic world. So he continues to promote it not only as a virtuoso soloist but also through his performances with different artists from many countries and styles such as Maria Bethania, José Carreras, KD Lang or Paco de Lucia.
