About the artists:
Anamer Castrello has appeared in several GALA productions, including México: Noche Bohemias, Una visita inoportuna, and Neruda 2000. Other local credits include Carmen and Viva Zarzuela with the InSeries, and Luisa Fernandez, Antologia de la Zarzuela, and El Barberillo de Lavapies for Zarzuela Di Si. She has appeared with several opera companies and theaters including the Baltimore Opera, Opera Camerata of Washington, Shakespeare Theatre, Opera Americana, Maryland Opera Studio, and Crittenden and Singers Opera. Anamer is a founding member of Duet Cantaré; a member of Venus, a choral sextet of diverse women, and was a Teaching Artist with the Washington National Opera. She is a member of the American Guild of Musical Artists and Actors' Equity Association.
Mari Paz has been a featured artist in several GALA productions, including Raíces cubanas, Poetas de nuestra tierra, Neruda 2000, La dama duende, and México: noches bohemias. She has performed in various cabarets with the InSeries, and appeared in concerts at the Mexican Cultural Institute and embassies. Influenced by her uncle, Maestro Rodrigo Prats, she began piano studies and received her degree in piano in Havana, Cuba. She continued her training in Mexico City with such renowned artists as Mario Ruiz Aremengol, Roberto Paz Vazquez, and Vicente Garrido. She has resided in the Washington, DC area for 14 years, performing her solo arrangements in recitals and on radio and television.

GALita is dedicated to producing children's theater - in both Spanish and English - that inspires a sense of joy, discovery, pride and self-identity among the community's youngest children. GALita's presentations are bilingual and accessible across language barriers, thus nurturing children's curiosity and tolerance for cultures other than their own.
